About Discordant Coastlines

What is Discordant Coastlines?

Discordant Coastlines, commonly referred to as DisCoast, is an upcoming webcomic by me, pp4rtyp0is0n_.

As of right now, I am still in the process of developing characters and storyline.

What is DisCoast about?

DisCoast follows Simon Harding, a seemingly ordinary college student, and his life turning upside down after he becomes an aquarid (an alien sea monster species), meets a creature called Scatterbrain as well as other people (some more friendly than others), and navigates his everyday life all while trying to figure out who he is and what his purpose is.

Where can I read DisCoast?

DisCoast has not started yet, but it is currently planned to be hosted on MSPFA, as it's easy for me to use and is what I am used to.

What genre does DisCoast fall under?

DisCoast is primarily a comedy and fantasy comic with coming-of-age and science fiction elements.

Does DisCoast have an age rating?

DisCoast may contain swearing, violence (a mix of slapstick and actual injury), drug/alcohol references, and mentions and depictions of mental health stuff, including traumatic experiences. I find it hard to put specific age ratings on things I make, but I would recommend being at least 16 years of age before reading or viewing anything I make, as a sort of precautionary measure because I'm really not sure.

This isn't a strict rating (as in, "you CANNOT read this if you're fifteen or under!"), it really depends on how you handle such topics.

I will update this as the comic continues, as I cannot accurately predict what will be in the comic when it starts.

Fan content

Am I allowed to make fan-characters for DisCoast?

If you're a friend of mine, then sure, knock yourself out! If not, you'll have to ask for permission until the comic has begun.

Please do not make fan-aquarids yet! I haven't developed the species enough to allow people to make their own aquarids, due to the lack of information about the species.

Am I allowed to make fanfiction of DisCoast characters?

Not until the comic has begun, unfortunately. Once it has, you can, unless it contains any content that is problematic or offensive. This includes using the DisCoast characters to spread harmful ideologies or hate speech, and any pornographic content (I am a minor and do not want to see my characters being drawn in such situations.)

Am I allowed to ship DisCoast characters?

Please ask me if your ship is okay! (OC x canon is something I'm much more lenient on than ships between canon DisCoast characters.)

I do not accept any romantic ships that erase a character's canon identity (ie. shipping Tera or Bubbles with men, shipping Simon with women, shipping Vortex with anyone), involve characters who are minors (ie. any Scatterbrain ships, as Scatter is (psychologically) a young child), are between characters who are related, or romanticise abuse in any way.

Am I allowed to make headcanons of DisCoast characters?

I do not accept headcanons regarding a character's sexuality or gender identity, these are set in stone. However, if it's anything else, I'm generally willing to hear about it!

Am I allowed to make a fan translation of DisCoast?

Sure, go ahead! I'd love for my comic to be accessible to anyone. Just make sure to credit me and let me know you're making a fan translation.

Am I allowed to make fanart of DisCoast and its characters?

Absolutely! I love seeing people draw my characters! Just make sure it isn't problematic in any way.

Am I allowed to make AU versions of DisCoast and its characters?

Yes! Just make sure to let me know - I'd really like to hear about your AU. Just make sure it's not inherently problematic.
